PURE GRAFFITI. Whats your name and where you from?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. My pseudonym is - tieRi - I was born in 1965 in Argenteuil, and I lived in various cities such as Brussel, Paris, Pau. Since 1997, I live in Montpellier, in the south of France.

PURE GRAFFITI. Let me start by asking you how you even came up with the idea of morphing empty aerosol cans?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. Being before any photographer, I spend much time to traverse the unused grounds where many writers paint. I thus wanted to preserve a trace of these single environments. I thus started to photograph not only the writers but also the places. Many aerosols edges lie there without life, they seemed to me a single subject of graphic design and at the same time extremely representative of the image of the graffiti. Following the observation of my photographs of aerosols cans, it was for me an obviousness to use this tool (aerosols cans) in order to create my Incompressions. This observation as well as the influence of artists such as Cesar (1921-1998) enabled me to represent in three dimensions my own shape of graffiti.

PURE GRAFFITI. How do you actually create these sculptures?
PURE GRAFFITI. FRENCH: ( Comment creez-vous reellement ces sculptures? )

TIERI. My sculptures which I name Incompressions, are formatted in the influence of manual compressions. In other words, my hands and my hammers are my principal tools. They are the result of a precise and calculated assembly. Composed of aerosols cans coming primarily from grounds, their aspects rusted with various degrees, enable me to work the nuances of tone. They can be of abstract or figurative form and are each one single of share their form. Impossible to repeat a torsion or a fold in an identical way. They are entirely built starting from objects coming exclusively from grounds. Each sculpture has its limps to measure, made starting from wood of pallets.

PURE GRAFFITI.Are any of these sculptures for sale? and if so where could they be purchased?
PURE GRAFFITI. FRENCH: (Ces sculptures sont-elles a vendre et si oui, ou pourraient elles etre achetees? )

TIERI. My photographs like my sculptures, are all on sale.

By consulting my Web site: www.tieritdm.com, that gives an idea of the sculptures available.

My contact: tieritdm@hotmail.fr, makes it possible to obtain the list of the prices.

PURE GRAFFITI. Out of all your works, which piece are you most proud of?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. Without hesitating Fresh Painting (my roller of painting) where I replace painting by the aerosol cans. This sculpture is for me a turning, to replace painting by the aerosol cans represents exactly what I feel concerning this extraordinary tool .

Of course, I am proud of Subway R16 and of the Ghetto Blaster T, they were almost necessary and essential to my evolution They enabled me to know that there is no limit in art, it is simply enough to be oneself.

PURE GRAFFITI. We appreciate this interview and look forward to your future works. Is there anything else you would like to add?

PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. Before all, thank you with you for the interest that you to carry to my work and of course a big respect to all the people who support me Olymp, Alex, Dino, INK Corporation (Kopsky, Apee, Ktear, Abbe), Malone, Jok, Detone, Scane, Asone, Finda, Kew, 3HC (Brok, Sueb, Takt, Rude) Der, Rocky, Moker Crew (Mite, Lez, Samp, Pain, Aise, Bone.) Cephas, Demer, Been3, TCF Crew (Ziml, Seza.), Mr. Big, Edouard Scarfoglio, Green Gallery, Los, Djege Dad.

PURE GRAFFITI. How long did it take you to create that freight and what inspired you to do so?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. The majority of my sculptures are inspired by the Hip-Hop movement. My small Incompressions represent mainly phases of B.boy, and the Ghetto Blaster is impossible to circumvent by what it represents. Thus I wanted to create a sculpture in homage to the writers. The coach of the R16 subway put in activity in 1970 appeared obvious to me being surely one of the first subway to be painted: a whole symbol! That was not simple, it was necessary that I find the plan of the coach in order to respect the scale. Then, a large preparation of the axles, doors, windows, before and postponed coach. Each aerosol being placed at a precise place, nothing is randomly! Then once the whole assembled and the setting form some to carry out, there are all the completions using patina being used to give the aspect to seek. After two hundred hours of striking, - the subway R16 - taken form.180 inches and 35kg.

PURE GRAFFITI. Do you go around collecting abandoned cans?
PURE GRAFFITI. FRENCH: (Cherche tu les spray abandonnes ?)

TIERI. Everywhere!!! The aerosols cans are my raw material. As well for my photographs as for my sculptures. In fact I proceed as follows: I leave above all in optics to make photographs of aerosol cans, and once those done, I collect the spray being used to me to create my Incompressions. Thus recycling is ultimate of share the image and work. Moreover, many friends writers reserve their spray vacuums to me, so that my stock remains constant.

PURE GRAFFITI. How do you feel about Graffiti, and has it inspired you at all?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. The graffiti is for me the major Art of our time. It gathers an infinite number of anybody share the world. Against any form of Art establishes, it knew to create its aesthetic rules; giving to each one the possibility of developing its artistic directions. I regard myself as an atypical member of the movement, by the means of my photographs and of my sculptures, I express my own graffiti.

PURE GRAFFITI. How did you get started in photography? and did that come before the sculptures?
PURE GRAFFITI. FRENCH: (Comment avez-vous commence dans la photographie ? .... avant les sculptures? )

TIERI. I was pilot, in the years 1980, of the emergence of the graffiti in Paris. Of innumerable painting appeared on both sides of the railways. A new decoration took life, waking up my curiosity. The acquisition of a camera in 1995 in Pau, allowed me finally immortaliser these traces transitory. Thus I learned rules, sought the places, deciphered each painting crossing my way. Thereafter the meeting of Olymp to Montpellier enabled me to integrate Tdm crew as a photographer. This experiment gave me the possibility of developing a more personal vision of my photographs by concentrating me on a subject: the Aerosol cans. The photographs obtained single and unreal gave me the desire for working on the metamorphosis of the tool in time and space in the form of sculptures.

PURE GRAFFITI. How far do you plan to take this art form?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

Ad infinitum!!! I surprise myself to imagine sculptures without any limit or constraint. At the end of a hundred sculptures, I took confidence and I know that all. I am possible only hope to have opportunity of showing my work to the maximum of people.

PURE GRAFFITI. Any new projects you may be working on that you can clue us in about?
PURE GRAFFITI. )

TIERI. I have just finished a named series Strange Christmas of Mr. tieRi inspired by film of Tim Burton Nigthmare before christmas. This series special, includes 6 Sculptures: Mr. Jack, sally, Am, Stram, Gram and Zero..in exposure to Green Gallery in Toulouse (France). It was a new way of working, that enabled me to explore other horizons. Currently I seek to develop my Incompressions of advantage..I endeavour their to give movement by representing the matter - painting by the aerosol even. That brings another dimension to my sculptures, they become alive and express more in-depth my frame of mind.!

I also take part in the 400 ml project on the initiative of Gautier Jourdain. The concept being: 400 aerosols (400ml) customized by 400 artists resulting from the street world art. Giving place to a book 400 ml and a road show of share the world..

Or with the sale of urban art which will take place in Marseilles at the house of the sales Leclere in March 2009 and one exposure at Vibesin June 2009 in Montpellier.
